We can help.

The tragic death of a loved one in an unexpected fatal accident is a devastating experience. At Black Law Group, our Albuquerque wrongful death lawyers understand the sadness, anger, and stress our clients feel when their child, parent, sibling, or other loved one has died. When the indifference, recklessness, or intentional actions of a third party cause the death of a family member, it only increases this pain and anguish. Navigating legal obstacles and insurance company hassles when coping with the pain and grief associated with losing a family member is simply more than many surviving family members can endure.

We Bring the Experience You Need

Black Law Group has developed a reputation throughout New Mexico for speaking up for fatality victims, so their voices are not silenced by the intentional or careless conduct of others. Our clients benefit from the legal expertise and proven results founded on over a hundred years of collective experience. Our lawyers have been recognized by SuperLawyers for nine consecutive years. Our goal is to ease the stress and burden of dealing with litigation and insurance claims while you grieve and focus on supporting your family. While our wrongful death lawyers cannot restore your ability to share precious moments with your child or give you back the companionship of your spouse, we can help you ensure that devastating financial consequences do not compound your tragedy.

Hospital bills and medical expenses associated with a fatal catastrophic injury can be staggering. If the loved one who has been taken from you was the financial provider for your family, astronomical medical expenses may be compounded with a loss of family income. The prospect of a single stay at home parent needing to find a way to financially care for one's family following a fatal accident without a family breadwinner can be extremely stressful. At Black Law Group, we combine cutting edge litigation skills with empathy and compassion to help our clients begin healing and rebuilding their lives.

Have You Lost a Loved One Due to an Accident or Intentional Misconduct?

If you have a close family member like a spouse, parent, or child who is killed by conduct that is either negligent, reckless or intentional, you may be able to seek compensation for the loss of your loved one by initiating a wrongful death claim. "Negligence" in its simplest sense is just behavior that is unreasonably careless or unsafe. While not as common, a lawsuit for wrongful death may even be based on intentional and/or criminal acts.

Black Law Group handles all types of wrongful death legal claimsin Bernalillo County and the surrounding areas of New Mexico, including but not limited to the following:

Generally, a wrongful death action in New Mexico is brought by the personal representative of the deceased victim's estate who frequently is a surviving spouse, sibling, or other family member. The settlement or jury award will be distributed to surviving family members based on the New Mexico wrongful death statute. Financial compensation recovered would first be awarded to a surviving spouse or divided between the decedent's children and a surviving spouse. If the decedent does not have a surviving spouse or children, the proceeds from the legal claim will be distributed among other family members who might include parents, siblings, grandparents, or others. While the types of damages that might be recovered vary depending the specific facts and circumstances of the case, available damages often include compensation for the following:
